CHENNAI: AIADMK deputy general secretary K P Munusamy met state BJP leader Nainar Nagenthran at the BJP headquarters here on Tuesday night to hand over a letter from party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, seeking the party’s support for the upcoming bypolls in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram constituencies scheduled for Oct 6.The two constituencies are among the seven declared vacant following the resignation of the elected members. Of these seven seats, six were held by the AIADMK before the members defected to join the ruling TVK.“We handed over our party leader’s letter, seeking support for the bypoll,” Munusamy told reporters following his meeting with Nagenthran. He was accompanied by AIADMK treasurer Dindigul C Srinivasan and senior party leaders.Munusamy stated that the delegation would meet leaders of other allied parties, including the PMK, to seek their backing. Expressing confidence in winning both seats, he slammed former AIADMK MLAs Maragatham Kumaravel and P Sathyabama for switching loyalties.Lashing out at the turncoats, Munusamy said the voters and party sympathisers had elected them to victory, but they betrayed the electorate and abandoned the party. “We will field candidates and win the bypoll in the two constituencies,” he added.
