Madikeri: Two people were taken into custody by the foresters on charges of hunting a gaur in a Reserve Forest near Bettathuru in Madikeri taluk. During the operation to secure them, the duo were injured and were admitted to Madikeri hospital. Later, they were shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru, foresters said. They are undergoing treatment and are out of danger. We will take them into custody for questioning, he stated.According to DCF (Madikeri) Abhishek, around 9.30pm on Thursday, the duo were found carrying 260kg meat after killing the gaur in Pattighat reserve forest. They were intercepted when they were moving in a jeep. The duo tried to escape. The foresters seized the jeep, meat and some cartridges that were used to kill the gaur, along with other weapons, said the foresters. The duo are from Kolakeri village near Napoklu.
