Ahmedabad: The city crime branch on Wednesday arrested a key accused in the murder of Punjab-based social media influencer ‘Mad Sandhu’. Based on an input shared by Amritsar police, the accused, Parminder Prasad alias Parminder Kaka, was traced to the city’s Vadaj area. He had allegedly fired at Sandhu and had arranged the motorcycle used in the murder, investigators said.Sandhu, also known as Madhusudan Sandhu, was shot dead on Oct 3 on Loharka Road in Amritsar. According to police, two men riding a motorcycle approached him when he had gone to collect his car from a service centre and opened fire before fleeing. Sandhu died on the way to the hospital.An FIR was registered at Amritsar’s Cantonment police station under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A social media account associated with Goldy Dhillon allegedly claimed responsibility for the murder after the attack. Police are probing the suspected involvement of members of the gang in the killing.According to investigators, Parminder was the one who carried out the firing and arranged the motorcycle on which he arrived with the other assailant. After the murder, Parminder allegedly fled Punjab and reached Ahmedabad in an attempt to evade arrest.Crime branch officials said Amritsar Police shared information about Parminder’s involvement and his possible presence in Ahmedabad. “Parminder Prasad was fleeing to Mumbai and had broken his journey in Ahmedabad. He was arrested from Vadaj,” crime branch sources said.Officers are questioning Parminder to establish his movements after the murder, identify others involved in the killing and ascertain how he reached Ahmedabad. His mobile phone, travel details and contacts will also be examined.Police said he will be handed over to Punjab Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.The murder had drawn attention because Sandhu was a known social media personality, makeup artist and fashion designer. He was also associated with the LGBTQ community and had a substantial following on social media.
