Ludhiana: A major fire broke out late Wednesday night at a factory near the dairy complex on Hambran Road. The blaze, which started suddenly, spread rapidly and engulfed the entire factory within minutes.Sources said an employee on night duty saw smoke and flames emerging from the unit and alerted the factory owner, who informed the fire brigade. Fire department teams rushed to the spot after receiving the call.A fire officer present at the location said vehicles were dispatched promptly when the report was received at 11.10pm. However, due to the presence of plastic and other flammable materials inside the factory, the fire intensified and spread rapidly. Firefighters worked through the night and were able to completely control the blaze by around 3am. Fortunately, there were no casualties as workers managed to come out on time.Officials said the fire was difficult to control because of its intensity and the large area the factory covered, which allowed the flames to spread quickly. In response to the situation, the department called fire tenders from four fire stations. More than 30 fire tenders were deployed to extinguish the flames. Vehicles kept returning to the spot after refilling water to ensure uninterrupted operations. The factory was involved in large-scale manufacturing of domestic air coolers, ventilation fans, and exhaust fans. A significant amount of finished products, raw material, and machinery was destroyed in the incident. The fire also caused panic in the surrounding area as residents were alarmed to see flames rising from the unit. Since the incident took place at night, fire brigade teams were able to reach the site without delays due to less traffic on the road.MSID:: 129679126 413 |
