Hisar: Amid concerns over the shortage of domestic LPGs following the US-Israel-Iran conflict, the food and supplies department has uncovered a case of black marketing in the district. During raids conducted at hotels, restaurants, sweet shops and other eateries, officials seized a total of 73 gas cylinders, including 39 commercial and 34 domestic.District food and supplies controller Kushal Boora clarified that the LPG supply in the district remains normal. On March 30, as many as 8,136 filled cylinders were received from three oil companies, while 10,910 cylinders are currently available with 23 gas agencies, taking the total stock to 19,046 cylinders.On March 29, a total of 3,216 refills were distributed to consumers. The administration has also made special arrangements to meet increased demand during the wedding season. Out of 181 applications received till March 29, 73 have been approved, and 297 commercial cylinders have been allocated by a committee headed by the deputy commissioner.Meanwhile, tension prevailed in a Ghirai village of Hisar district, where angry residents stopped a gas supply vehicle and staged a protest. Villagers alleged that consumers who had pre-booked gas were not being supplied cylinders, triggering an uproar. Consumers also accused delivery personnel of blackmail and arbitrary conduct.
