Thane: A portion of a hoarding came loose and was seen dangling precariously over the busy Cadbury Junction signal on Friday evening, triggering safety concerns.Images of the damaged hoarding in the Vartaknagar ward went viral on social media, prompting the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) to remove the hanging portion as a precautionary measure. The incident comes days after Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde directed strict action against illegal banners and structurally unsafe hoardings across the city. It is the third such incident in recent weeks. A large hoarding installation partially collapsed on the same road two weeks ago, while last week an illegal banner fell on a couple riding a motorcycle near Teen Haath Naka.“The hoarding may have come loose due to strong winds. We acted immediately after receiving complaints and removed the dangling portion,” a civic official said. However, unlike the earlier cases including the Pokhran incident, in which the TMC registered cases against five persons, including the advertising agency, no action had been initiated in connection with Friday’s incident till the time of filing this report.
