Locals said that some youths from outside the area have been consuming alcohol and creating nuisance at the walking track

Bicholim: Bicholim residents have raised safety concerns over disruptive and objectionable activities by youths at the Bicholim walking track, particularly during the night hours.Locals said that some youths from outside the area have been consuming alcohol and creating nuisance at the walking track.“I have seen a couple engaging in obscene behaviour while I was walking on the track. Such activities create inconvenience for other people who come to public places for walking and exercise,” said local resident Sanjay Kharbe.Residents have urged the Bicholim Municipal Council (BMC) to take measures to prevent such activities and ensure the safety of people using the walking track. They have sought the deployment of at least two police personnel at the facility between 8pm and midnight to monitor the area and deter any unlawful or disruptive behaviour.Former BMC chairperson Vijayakumar Natekar said the Bicholim walking track, though maintained by the water resources department, has entrusted its day-to-day management to the BMC. He said that during his tenure, police personnel were deputed at the walking track. “However, the arrangement was not continued, resulting in the situation returning to its earlier state,” he said.
