Srinagar, Aug 7: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast intermittent rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in parts of the Union Territory between August 9 and 11.

According to the MeT Department, one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at many places on August 7 and 8, with brief intense showers expected at a few locations.

From August 9 to 11, most parts of Jammu and Kashmir are likely to witness several spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers. The department has warned that a few districts of the Jammu Division may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, while some districts in the Kashmir Division could experience brief but intense heavy showers.

The weather is expected to remain unsettled from August 12 to 17, with the possibility of light rain or thundershowers at many places and brief intense showers at isolated locations.

The MeT Department has issued an advisory warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall and brief intense showers at a few places during August 9-11. It cautioned that torrential rain may trigger flash floods, landslides in vulnerable areas, and waterlogging in low-lying regions.

Residents, tourists, and commuters have been advised to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel to landslide-prone areas during periods of intense rainfall, and follow official weather updates and advisories.
