Srinagar, August 8: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast spells of rain and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at a few districts of Jammu Division from August 9 to 11.
According to the latest forecast, one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at many places on August 8, with brief intense showers likely at a few places.
From August 9 to 11, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at most places. The weather department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few districts of Jammu Division, along with brief intense heavy showers at a few districts of Kashmir Division.
For the period from August 12 to 17, the MeT Centre has predicted the possibility of light rain and thundershowers at many places, with brief intense showers at a few places.
The weather department has advised people to remain cautious, particularly during August 9–11, when heavy to very heavy rainfall and brief intense heavy showers are possible in some districts.
It warned that torrential rain and brief intense heavy showers may trigger flash floods and landslides at vulnerable locations, besides causing waterlogging in low-lying areas.
The MET Centre Srinagar has urged residents, particularly those living in vulnerable and low-lying areas, to remain alert and follow official advisories.
