Shimla: The weather department has predicted light rain or snowfall at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh on April 19, 20 and 24.A yellow alert has been issued for April 19, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kilometres per hour, for Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts. For the rest of the coming week, dry weather is expected to prevail across the state.On Saturday, light to moderate rainfall was recorded at a few locations in the hill state. Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti district recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 0.8℃.Una registered the highest maximum temperature of 34.8℃ on Friday. In Shimla, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 23℃ and 15.6℃, respectively.Despite receiving 46% (60.7 mm) above-normal rainfall so far in April, the meteorological office has predicted a weaker-than-normal monsoon for most parts of the hill state this year.Rainfall is expected to remain below normal across many regions, except Lahaul and Spiti, where it may stay within normal levels. Some isolated areas in Chamba, Kinnaur and Hamirpur may also witness near-normal rainfall.
