Patna: Proposals for cancellation of driving licences of 47 vehicle owners and drivers who repeatedly violated traffic rules were submitted to the district transport office by Patna traffic police. The proposals were filed against motorists who had violated traffic regulations more than five times in Sept.A review of the proposals submitted by officers deputed for traffic operations found that the in-charge of Patrakar Nagar City Traffic OP, Saroj Kumar, had submitted the highest number. In recognition of the work, the officer was awarded a good service mark in his service book.In a separate review, five investigating officers posted at Gandhi Maidan and Bypass traffic police stations were rewarded for disposing of five or more cases in Sept. The review covered cases handled at Gandhi Maidan, Bypass and Saguna More traffic police stations.Sub-inspector Ranjit Kumar of Gandhi Maidan Traffic Police Station disposed of eight cases, followed by SI Avinash Kumar, who resolved six. SI Prahlad Kumar Yadav disposed of five cases. At Bypass Traffic Police Station, SIs Saunu Kumar Singh and Raj Kumar Yadav each disposed of five cases.SP (Traffic) Sagar Kumar Jha recognised the personnel for their performance. “The rewards were intended to boost the morale of officers and encourage effective traffic enforcement and timely disposal of cases,” he said.“Traffic authorities have been focusing on stricter action against repeat offenders to improve compliance with road safety rules. The licence cancellation proposals form part of the enforcement mechanism used against motorists who repeatedly violate traffic regulations,” Jha said.The SP added: “The recognition highlighted the department’s focus on taking action against repeat traffic violators while improving the investigation and resolution of cases handled by traffic police stations.”
