Srinagar, Jul 25: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting with Camp Directors and senior officials to review ongoing repair and restoration work along the Shri Amarnathji Yatra tracks in the wake of recent heavy rainfall, assessing damage on tracks, safety railings, and essential infrastructure.
The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, Additional CEO Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board Rahul Singh, SSP Anantnag Amod Nagpure Ashok, SSP Srinagar Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Jatin Kishore, SSP Ganderbal Sudhanshu Dhama, Camp Directors, and senior officials of civil administration, Police, Army, Security forces, Shrine Board, BRO, Health, Meteorological, and other line departments.
The Lieutenant Governor directed executing agencies and officials to prioritize vulnerable zones prone to mudslides and shooting stones. To ensure safety of pilgrims, he directed the deployment of additional Mountain Rescue Teams (MRTs) and stressed the importance of sharing real-time weather updates with the Yatris proactively.
He also instructed officials to ensure that essential services, including power, water supply, communication, and healthcare, remain fully operational.
The Yatra, which was suspended for six consecutive days due to inclement weather, is likely to resume on Saturday subject to favourable weather conditions. Officials continue to closely monitor the weather and road conditions along both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes.
