Nagpur: A delegation of the Beijing-based Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) recently inspected various power infrastructure strengthening and augmentation projects being implemented in Nagpur district with financial assistance from the bank.The visit focused on reviewing progress of new substations, capacity augmentation works and installation of additional power transformers and 33kV and 11kV feeder lines being undertaken by MSEDCL. The projects are aimed at strengthening rural power network and improve availability of reliable daytime electricity for agricultural consumers.During a field visit, the delegation inspected the solar agriculture project at Selu in Mouda division, where MSEDCL officials briefed the team on the progress of construction, technical aspects and the safety measures being followed at the site. The delegation also reviewed measures related to environmental protection and workplace safety as part of the implementation of the AIIB-funded projects.The delegation comprised AIIB associate officer Shuvam Sarkar Roy, senior environmental specialist Indrani Ghosh, water specialist Smita Mishra, social specialist Sue Tran Quay, environmental consultant Damanjit Singh Minhas and consultant Rajiv Mishra.The team also visited Shivni village in Kamptee taluka and interacted with a beneficiary of ‘Magel Tyala Saur Krushipump Yojana’. The visit provided the delegation an opportunity to assess how the infrastructure projects and solar initiatives are being implemented on the ground and their role in strengthening rural electricity supply and promoting renewable energy.
