Nagpur: The furniture and a computer in the office of a lawyer, Shrichand Kundwani, was reduced to ashes after a fire broke out around 1pm on Sunday in the two-storey handloom market building in Gandhibagh. No one was present in the office at the time of the incident. Ganjipeth fire brigade in-charge officer Syed Shaukat Ali reached the location with his team after receiving an alert. Additional fire engines were called from Cotton Market and Civil Lines. Local corporator Sanjay Balpande and BJP city president Dayashankar Tiwari visited the spot to assess the damage. A report was registered at Tehsil police station. The exact cause of the fire could not be determined.The Ganjipeth fire station has been temporarily shifted to a closed NMC school building at Model Mills Chowk. The entrance of this place is narrow. As a result, fire tenders face difficulties in reaching crowded marketplaces during emergency situations. TNN
