Mysuru: KPCC spokesperson M Lakshmana on Sunday cautioned Congress activists to be aware of BJP’s communal politics as BJP activists and functionaries have again now become active across the state. They have started inciting communal violence during Ganesha idol immersion festival celebrations, he said.BJP has planned to come to power again by polarising the voters on communal lines, planning to gain political mileage as the elections are round the corner, he alleged.Speaking to reporters, the Congress leader condemned former MP Pratap Simmha and Mysore MP Yaduveer Wadiyar over misleading the people over T Narasipur circle inspector Dhananjay’s general advisory issued to political parties to be followed during Ganesh idol immersion procession.He said that the police officer has just advised the political leaders to take precautionary measures like not taking a procession in front of mosques, not bursting crackers or dancing while taking a Ganesh idol immersion procession, after previous incidents of disturbance of peace in Nagamangala and Maddur, among other parts of the state, at a meeting held at his office. He condemned the BJP functionaries for communalising this issue and demoralising the cop.He said that during the previous BJP govt’s tenure between 2018 and 2023, the state registered 118 major communal violence incidents and 920 cases were booked across the state, but communal violence reduced in the state during the current Congress govt. “Only seven communal violence cases were recorded so far in the last three years, with the registration of 19 cases in different police station limits,” he said.
