Gurgaon: Two labourers drowned in a pond outside a village on Wednesday evening. The incident took place in the Bajghera police station area when one of them entered the water for a bath and the other tried to rescue him.Forty-five-year-old Ranjit Rai from Bijrauli village in Bihar’s Vaishali district and Mahendra Pal, 35, from Bijwasan in Delhi lived in rented accommodation in Bajghera and worked at a wood factory in the area.Police said the two men went for a walk near the pond around 4pm. “Mahendra decided to take a bath. While bathing, he slipped into deep water and started drowning. On seeing him in trouble, Ranjit entered the pond to save him but also got trapped and drowned,” a police officer said, adding, “The circumstances leading to the drowning are being verified.”People present near the pond informed the authorities. Around 7 pm, SDRF divers recovered the bodies, which were sent for an autopsy.
