Ahmedabad: A 25-year-old daily wage labourer was stabbed to death allegedly by his two friends near Vakil Saheb Bridge in Bopal on Tuesday midnight following a dispute over Rs 2 lakh. Sarkhej police registered a murder case on Wednesday and launched a search for the accused.The complaint was filed by the victim’s cousin, Kishan Kalasua. The deceased, identified as Shiva Kalasua, was a native of Rajasthan’s Dungarpur district and lived in a rented house in South Bopal.According to the FIR, around midnight on Tuesday, Kishan received a call from his brother informing him that Shiva had been involved in a quarrel near Bopal bridge and was not responding to phone calls. Kishan and his wife rushed from Maninagar to Bopal, where they learnt that Shiva had been shifted to Saraswati Hospital. Doctors there had declared him dead on arrival.A preliminary medical examination revealed multiple stab injuries on his chest, back and near his left ear, inflicted with a sharp weapon.Police said Shiva was sitting inside a vehicle parked under the bridge with acquaintances when he received a call from Narayan alias Rajkumar Verma seeking a meeting. Around 10.30pm, Verma arrived with three men, including Sunil Khokaria. After a brief conversation, Shiva was called outside the vehicle, where an argument escalated into a physical assault.Police said Verma and another accomplice allegedly held Shiva while Khokaria stabbed him repeatedly. Despite attempting to flee across the road, Shiva collapsed due to heavy bleeding, while the accused fled the scene.Police said Khokaria had allegedly lent Rs 2 lakh to Shiva and was demanding repayment, which reportedly led to the fatal confrontation. A case of murder has been registered against Khokaria and Verma, and further investigation was underway.
