Thiruvananthapuram: A 40-year-old clerk with Kerala Water Authority was arrested in Kollam for allegedly assaulting and harassing a colleague, following a complaint filed with the assistant commissioner of police.The accused, Nishad, a native of Edava, Varkala, was posted at a KWA office in Kollam. Based on the complaint, ACP forwarded the case to Kollam east police, who registered a case and took him into custody. The victim, a colleague of the accused, told police that Nishad was persistently harassing her and forcing her to become more intimate with him. Despite her repeated refusals, he allegedly continued to intimidate and pressure her at the workplace. Police said the harassment escalated into physical assault when the woman did not yield to his demands, following which she approached the police. After registering the case, Kollam east police arrested Nishad and later produced him before a court. Police said further investigation is under way to ascertain whether there were earlier instances of harassment or complaints against the accused.
