Varanasi: In view of Tuesday’s lunar eclipse, the sanctum sanctorum of Kashi Vishwanath Temple will remain closed for devotees from 4.30pm to 7.15pm.Temple CEO Vishwa Bhushan Mishra said that, according to calculations by the temple’s scholars, the moonrise in Kashi is expected at 5.59pm, while the eclipse will end at 6.47pm. As per the temple tradition, the doors are closed 1.5 hours before the commencement of the eclipse. Following this, the temple doors will be shut at 4.30pm. After the eclipse moksha, the Ugraha (Moksha) pujan will be performed according to scriptural procedures. Once the rituals of worship and purification are completed, the temple doors will reopen for devotees after 7.15 pm. The temple administration has urged devotees to plan their visit accordingly.
