Kota: The district rural police registered an FIR against Congress MLA from Pipalda, Chetan Patel Kolana, and 20 others Tuesday for allegedly blocking a road and obstructing public servants from performing their duty during vote counting for urban local body elections on Sept 21.Sultanpur Station House Officer (SHO) Daulat Sahu said Kolana and his supporters staged a road blockade, mistreated police station staff, and attempted to stop councillors from casting their votes.“The FIR has been transferred to CID-CB for investigation because an elected MLA (Kolana) is named in it,” Sahu said.MLA Kolana was allegedly refused entry to the Sultanpur municipality counting centre. While he initially left the venue, Congress councillors and party office-bearers remained at the scene and staged a protest when a vehicle belonging to a BJP councillor was permitted inside the venue. Kolana later returned to the spot, leading to a heated altercation and commotion.MLA Kolana, speaking to TOI, claimed Wednesday that he and his supporters were forced to raise their voices and block the road due to the BJP-governed administration’s lack of transparency during the polling process. Despite being an elected representative, he was denied entry inside the barricades, while BJP councillors and workers in vehicles were allowed inside the polling booth. The MLA claimed that BJP members remained inside the booth until polling concluded in the evening. He described the situation at the Sultanpur municipality counting centre as a “murder of democracy,” which compelled him to take a decisive and aggressive stance.
