Times News NetworkKanpur: The working committee of Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) approved development proposals worth around Rs 20 crore at a meeting held at the corporation headquarters here on Wednesday.The proposals include construction and repair of roads, laying of drains and sewer lines, construction of footpaths, installation of street lights, beautification of parks and other development works in various wards.However, the meeting was adjourned again after committee members did not receive replies from the municipal commissioner on three major issues, including the dissolution of the Mangal Bhawan committee. Mayor Pramila Pandey directed that another working committee meeting be convened on Oct 9 to seek the municipal commissioner’s response on the issues.The mayor said Rs 8 crore of the sanctioned amount would be spent on street lighting, another Rs 8 crore on park beautification and Rs 4 crore on road construction. The tender process would be completed within a week, after which work orders would be issued, she said.According to the mayor, the amended agenda contains 115 proposals, of which 15 are old and 100 new. Of the new proposals, 15 relate to new locations, while 40 each concern street lighting and park beautification.Pandey also said that before Diwali, every ward would be provided with a garbage vehicle, an e-rickshaw trolley and five sanitation workers to improve cleanliness arrangements.On the Mangal Bhawan issue, the mayor said the municipal commissioner had sought two days’ time to submit his reply. The matter will be taken up again at the Oct 9 meeting. If the commissioner fails to provide a response, the issue will be referred to the state govt, she said.……
