Mohali: Mohali police have arrested three persons, including a juvenile, for allegedly abducting a 21-year-old woman and forcing her into marriage. The woman was rescued from the Mohali court complex. The juvenile involved in the case has been sent to a juvenile home. A fourth accused is still at large.According to the complaint, the woman had left her PG accommodation for work on the morning of June 24 when a white car stopped near her. One of the accused allegedly dragged her into the vehicle by her hair and fled with accomplices. Despite raising an alarm, she was taken away.Family members and locals later scanned CCTV footage, leading to the identification of one accused, Bhavya Kumar, who was allegedly harassing the woman for some time. Based on this, police registered a case against him and his associates.During investigation, police learnt that the accused had taken the woman to the Mohali court complex to solemnise a marriage. Acting swiftly, a police team reached the spot and rescued her before detaining the accused.Kharar City SHO inspector Amrinder Singh said three persons, including a juvenile, have been apprehended. “The juvenile has been sent to a juvenile home, while the two accused have been remanded to one-day police custody. Efforts are on to arrest the fourth accused,” he said.Police said the woman alleged she was forced into the marriage through threats and intimidation. The second arrested accused has been identified as Vishal; both are residents of Jhampur village. The investigation is ongoing, and steps are being taken to ensure the woman’s safety.
