The Khelo India Dialogue – Khel Ki Baat PM Modi Ke Sath was recently organised at Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University, Baripada, where students listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address on sports and youth empowerment. Housing and urban development minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Mayurbhanj MP Nabacharan Majhi, university VC Mahendra Mohanty, and Sports Authority of India officials Dibyaranjan Das and Rashmita Sahu attended the event.Mahapatra highlighted sports’ role in building discipline, confidence, teamwork and leadership, and said Khelo India is creating opportunities for Odisha’s young athletes through better training and infrastructure.National Space DayFakir Mohan University (FMU) observed National Space Day-2026 with a programme organised by its department of physics, highlighting India’s achievements in space exploration and scientific innovation. Vice-chancellor Santosh Kumar Tripathy, who presided, emphasised the role of space science in research, education and sustainable development. Retired ORSAC senior scientist Pramod Kumar Parida, delivering the keynote address, highlighted applications of space technology in agriculture, disaster management, environmental monitoring and social welfare.PG Council chairman Santosh Kumar Agarwalla stressed interdisciplinary research. The event featured a short film on India’s space milestones and witnessed participation of faculty, researchers and students.Disaster managementA disaster management programme was organised at DAV Pokhariput in association with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Mundali, Cuttack, recently.NDRF personnel provided students with practical knowledge on protecting themselves and others during natural disasters and emergencies. NDRF inspector Debashish Parida explained safety measures and rescue procedures during floods, cyclones and earthquakes. The team also demonstrated various disaster management and rescue techniques. Students of NCC, Scouts and Guides took part in the programme and gained hands-on knowledge. The event was held under the guidance of school principal Bipin Kumar Sahu and coordinated by sociology department head Akhil Ranjan Dash.
