T’puram: Vizhinjam Police have arrested Jibin P Chacko, 35, of Kottayam, suspected to be the key link in a drug trafficking network, in connection with the seizure of around 50g of MDMA near Payarumoodu on the bypass.Vizhinjam SHO K Hemanth Kumar said the accused sustained serious injuries to both legs while attempting to escape by jumping from the terrace of his house when the police arrived to arrest him.He was taken to MCH and is undergoing treatment under police surveillance.According to the police, around 14 cases have been registered against him in Kottayam, but he had not been arrested in any of them previously. Vizhinjam SI Prashanth said the accused was suspected to be the main supplier of narcotics to the accused arrested earlier in the case.The team had earlier apprehended three people in connection with the case.Vijayakumar, a native of Anayara, was arrested on Sept 29. On Oct 14, the Dansaf team arrested Mujeeb Rahman, 32, of Poonthura, and Sahad, 27, of Vizhinjam, while they were allegedly transporting around 50g of MDMA on a scooter.
