The Congress on Tuesday announced its first list of 55 candidates for the upcoming Keralam Assembly elections, naming nominees across several constituencies in the state.

The list, released by the party’s Central Election Committee, includes a mix of senior leaders and party functionaries who will contest from seats spread across northern, central and southern Keralam.

State Congress president Sunny Joseph has been fielded from the Peravoor constituency. Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan will contest from Paravur, while Chandy Oommen has been nominated from Puthuppally.

Senior leader Ramesh Chennithala has been fielded from Haripad, Ramya Haridas from the Chirayinkeezhu (SC) constituency, and K. Muraleedharan from Vattiyoorkavu.

The list also includes several other prominent party figures. T.J. Vinod has been named as the candidate from Ernakulam, while Mrs. Uma Thomas will contest from Thrikkakara. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has been nominated from Kottayam.

In other constituencies, Aryadan Shoukath will contest from Nilambur, Ramesh Pisharody from Palakkad and Rajan J. Pallan from Thrissur.

Among the candidates in the southern districts, Mrs. Adv. Bindu Krishna has been fielded from Kollam and Sooraj Ravi from Chathannoor. In Thiruvananthapuram district, Ramya Haridas will contest from Chirayinkeezhu (SC), while M. Vincent has been nominated from Kovalam.
