Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala govt has reconstituted the admission supervisory committee and fee regulatory committee for professional colleges, with retired high court judge Justice K P Balachandran appointed chairperson of both panels.The order issued by the higher education department said the reconstitution was necessary to operationalise the committees during the ongoing admission process to self-financing professional colleges. Govt withdrew and cancelled two earlier orders issued in Sept 2025 and Feb 2026. The first had appointed retired HC judge Justice Babu Mathew P Joseph as chairperson, while the second appointed retired judge Justice K K Dinesan to the post.Govt said the earlier orders were incomplete as the committee had not been reconstituted in full after Justice Joseph expressed his inability to accept the appointment. It also noted that the committees had not begun their statutory functions or sittings.The admission supervisory committee will include the principal secretaries of the higher education, health and family welfare, and law departments, the commissioner for entrance examinations. The fee regulatory committee will comprise the principal secretary of the higher education department, chartered accountant Santhakumar K, a representative nominated by the National Medical Commission or the All India Council for Technical Education, and educationist Prof K M Benny.
