T’puram: As the strike by medical college doctors intensifies, the health department has imposed dies non against the protesting doctors. The department has instructed to provide a list of those doctors who are participating in the strike. With the strike entering its fourth day, the functioning of medical colleges in the state is in severe crisis. Along with the indefinite boycott of outpatient services from Thursday, medical college doctors are also halting non-emergency surgeries as part of the protest.

As a result, scheduled surgeries are being postponed, although emergency surgeries are still being conducted. Essential services like casualty, labour room, ICU, inpatient care, other emergency treatments and postmortem have been excluded from the protest activities. The strike is being held to demand the release of salary arrears and the creation of new positions. The protesting doctors said that the strike will continue until the demands are met.
