Gurgaon: A delegation of municipal councillors from Kerala visited the city on Saturday as part of the BJP’s “Vikasit Keralam” outreach programme and reviewed the functioning and infrastructure projects of the MCG, officials said.The visiting team was welcomed at the civic body’s headquarters, where municipal officials gave a presentation on city administration, ongoing development works and future urban planning initiatives. According to officials, the briefing focused on efforts to modernise municipal services through technology-driven systems and integrated monitoring platforms.“We shared information about efforts being made to transform Gurgaon into a modern, well-organised and technology-based city and informed the delegation about innovations adopted in various sectors,” said MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya.The matters discussed included digital governance tools, green area development, solid waste management, sewer and water services and road infrastructure. Officials highlighted measures such as door-to-door garbage collection, mechanised road sweeping, landfill management, construction and demolition waste processing, rainwater harvesting and steps to address waterlogging.Civic officials described the visit as part of inter-state exchanges aimed at sharing experiences in urban development and improving coordination between municipal bodies.The delegation included councillors Raghunath C Menon, P Krishnaprasad, VA Suresh Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Ullasan P, Rajalakshmi P, Sandhya Rani, and KP Bindu, who sought details on implementation strategies and administrative mechanisms used in Gurgaon.During the meeting, discussions were held between the two states on successful models of urban development, administrative innovations, and measures to improve civic services. Officials expressed hope that such dialogues and study tours will provide opportunities for better coordination and learning between various states of the country, which will give new direction to urban development.
