Mysuru: According to a report titled ‘Mysuru: Beyond Heritage – Skills & Talent Landscape Report’, published by the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) in partnership with Xpheno, more than 44,000 professionals are waiting to move to Mysuru from other Indian cities.According to the report, more than 16,000 professionals from Mysuru are planning to move out of the city.According to the report, which was released recently, 44,600 active job seekers are looking to move to Mysuru from other locations in India. Among them, Among those seeking jobs, 40% are in the bracket of 1-5 years of experience.The number of active outbound job seekers in Mysuru is 16,000. Among them, about 49% have experience of 1–5 years.

However, over the last 12 months, Mysuru absorbed 3,200 white-collar professionals from other Indian cities while it lost 4,500 talents to other cities, especially Bengaluru, which absorbed 3,400 professionals from the city.According to Kamal Karanth, co-founder, Xpheno, nearly 45,000 inbound active job seekers to the Mysuru region are from locations such as Bengaluru (22,000), Chennai (2,500), Hyderabad (2,000) and Pune (1,000), accounting for more than 60% of total inbound job seekers.Other locations with job seekers in the 500 to 1,000 range are Coimbatore, Mangaluru, Mumbai, Kochi and New Delhi.A host of other smaller cities such as Hubbali, Mandya, Hosur, Hassan, Ballari and Belagavi also feature on the list.“The reasons driving Mysuru’s rise as a preferred location for job seekers are its thriving local ecosystem of employers in IT services and IT-enabled sectors. Going well beyond the long-known association with companies such as Infosys, Mysuru today hosts talent opportunities from both Indian and international IT service bellwethers,” Karanth said.Leading brands in the manufacturing sector such as JK Tyres, Kaynes, TVS Motors also add to the growing attraction for inbound talent, he added.The COVID-19 pandemic-linked reverse migration of talent from metro centres to tier-2 locations such as Mysuru created high-end remote working infrastructure and upgrade to facilities has increased feasibility scores of Mysuru-like non-metro centres for enterprises looking beyond Bengaluru.“Professionals who earlier migrated out of Mysuru in search of jobs and career opportunities, are today looking back at world-class opportunities closer to home. With govt and private initiatives promoting clusters such as Mysuru to GCCs, one should expect this size of inbound talent pool to increase in the years to come,” Karanth explained.
