KPS aim to provide LKG to Class 12 education in Kannada, English mediums: Karnataka Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa

Bengaluru: Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa said that the Karnataka Public Schools (KPS) was an ambitious project of the state government aimed at providing quality education from LKG to Class 12 (II PUC) under one roof in both Kannada and English mediums.

The Minister was speaking after laying the foundation stone for a new Karnataka Public School building being constructed at a cost of Rs 13.5 crore under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Ajax Engineering Charitable Trust.

The event was jointly organised by the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Department of School Education and Literacy, Shivamogga Ajax Engineering Limited and Ajax Engineering Charitable Trust.

The Minister said that several important programs are being undertaken in the Education Department to shape a better future for children and that today is a very important day for his department.

Under the concept of “Namma Shaale Namma Javabdhari” (Our School, Our Responsibility), priority is being given to the development of government schools with community participation.

He said that people should develop a mindset of giving more importance to the development of schools than temples, as the responsibility of the Education Department, which shapes the future of children, is very great.

Karnataka Public Schools are an ambitious scheme of the state government, with the objective of providing quality education from LKG to Second PUC under one roof in Kannada and English mediums.

He informed that 11 KPS schools are already functioning successfully in Shivamogga district, and another 24 KPS schools have been sanctioned with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank.

Under the CSR fund, a project has been taken up to develop 1,000 Karnataka Public Schools across the state, and work is in progress to establish 35 KPS schools in Shivamogga district.

The building to be constructed with the support of Ajax Engineering Charitable Trust will have 35 well-equipped classrooms, toilets and an Akshara Dasoha Bhavan.

The target is to complete the building within two years and hand it over to the Education Department, he added. (ANI)
