KRISHNAGIRI: Veteran Karnataka activist Vatal Nagaraj announced a major protest on Monday, stating that the Tamil Nadu–Karnataka border would be blocked to press demands related to the Cauvery water dispute and other issues concerning Karnataka’s welfare.According to his statement, the agitation was scheduled to begin at 11am near Attibele close to the Tamil Nadu State border, and was expected to affect cross-border transport and daily commuters.Following the announcement, officials confirmed that Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation buses operated from Hosur as usual.“However, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation buses did not enter Hosur since morning,” a TNSTC official confirmed, adding, after 10am, the movement of Tamil Nadu buses into Karnataka would be reviewed depending on the situation at the border.The protest, led by Vatal Nagaraj, highlighted continuing tensions over Cauvery water sharing and the sensitivity of border districts such as Hosur, where transport and trade were closely linked to both states.
