Ahmedabad: A bomb threat email sent to a govt office triggered panic at Karmayogi Bhavan in Sector 10 of Gandhinagar on Monday, prompting police and other authorities to evacuate the building and launch a search operation.According to officials, the threatening email was received on the official email ID of the weights and measures department located in Block No. 2 of the govt complex which houses several important state govt offices. The message warned of an explosion in the building, causing alarm among employees and officials.Soon after the threat was reported, police teams rushed to the spot and evacuated staff members from various blocks as a precautionary measure. The entire premises were cleared to ensure safety while security agencies began a thorough inspection of the building.Personnel from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and the dog squad conducted a detailed search of the premises, checking each floor and surrounding areas for any suspicious object. Officials said the search operation was carried out systematically to rule out any security risk.Police also initiated a cyber investigation to trace the sender of the email. Technical teams are analysing the IP address and other digital clues to identify the origin of the message.Similar hoax threats were reported in the past as well, targeting key institutions in Gujarat. Earlier, several post offices, passport offices and educational institutions received bomb threat emails that later turned out to be fake.
