Prayagraj: With barely two days left for the beginning of Shrawan month, saffron T-shirts with 3-D images of Mahakal and Lord Shiva are in huge demand in Prayagraj as the Kanwar Yatra is set to start on July 30.Devotees of Lord Shiva planning Kanwar Yatra in the month of Shrawan usually wear saffron garments like T-shirts with images of Lord Shiva but this time there has been big demand for 3-D saffron T-shirts with images of Mahakal, Trident and Lord Shiva.Devotees have started reaching Dashashwamedh and other ghats for their Kanwar Yatra preparations as they will fetch holy water from the Ganga to start their journey for Kashi Vishwanath and Baba Baidyanath Dham in Jharkhand to offer Gangajal to Lord Shiva. Anand Jaiswal, a trader at Daraganj, told TOI, “Majority of youngsters are asking for 3D printed saffron T-shirts for Kanwar Yatra”The number of youngsters taking part in Kanwar Yatra has been increasing with every passing year. These young kanwariyas have a different approach and want all necessary items during the Kanwar Yatra.The demand for saffron items has led to the emergence of kanwar merchandise. Traders selling saffron garments and other accessories at Daraganj hope for brisk business this year.Speaking about the latest trend of kanwar merchandise, Anand said, “Earlier, Kanwar Yatra was a simple, religious affair. But the young devotees now want full pomp and show and as a result, something new gets added to kanwar merchandise every year.”Moreover, devotees are also getting tattoos of religious symbols like Om, Mahadev, Trishool, Shivlinga before beginning the Kanwar Yatra.
