Kanpur: The proliferation of concrete jungle and high-rise buildings is affecting the weather, leading to erratic rainfall. Kanpur division is currently experiencing this phenomenon. Despite dense black clouds covering the sky, there has been little to no rainfall.S Sunil Pandey, weather scientist from Chandra Shekhar Azad Technical University, informed TOI that concrete jungle and high-rise buildings generate and discharge heat into the atmosphere. The hot winds are absorbed by the clouds, leading to the evaporation of moisture within the clouds, which in turn prevents rainfall or causes it to be erratic.Kanpur division has been facing this phenomenon for the past couple of days. Despite favourable conditions, rainfall has not occurred. Pandey said that on Sunday morning, there were dense black clouds in the sky and it appeared that moderate to heavy rainfall would take place, but no rain was observed. In the afternoon, as the climatic conditions became slightly colder, the clouds released rainfall, making the weather more pleasant.
