Kanpur: In a dramatic protest in Kanpur’s Maharajpur area, a 23-year-old woman climbed a mobile tower and posted an emotional video on Instagram. In the video, she tearfully accused her uncle of illegally selling her share of ancestral land. She alleged the buyer had filed a legal case against her and appealed for her grievance to reach the chief minister. As the news spread, residents from nearby areas rushed to the spot, and within minutes, a massive crowd gathered below the tower. Police teams arrived promptly and repeatedly urged Nanhki Kushwaha of Fatehpur to come down, but she remained firm in her protest.According to reports, the woman climbed the tower around 6:30 am and stayed there for nearly three hours. After prolonged negotiation and assurances from officials, she finally agreed to descend around 9:30 am.In the video recorded from atop the tower, she alleged that her family’s uncle, Awadhesh Singh, along with his sons and another man named Rakesh Singh, had sold off disputed family land without her consent, sparking the ongoing conflict. She stated that no official partition of the land had taken place, yet they sold a portion of it.Kushwaha alleged that her uncle’s sons — Mahendra, Jayendra, Bharat, and Sonu — sold the land to Awadhesh Singh, a resident of the same village. Awadhesh has since forcibly occupied their land.ACP Chakeri Abhishek Kumar Pandey said a police team led by Maharajpur inspector Rajesh Kumar has been sent to the victim’s village to investigate the matter.
