BATHINDA: In a major breakthrough in the 2025 murder case of social media influencer Kamal Kaur (Bhabhi), the Punjab Police have arrested the main accused, Amritpal Singh Mehron, who had been absconding in Dubai. He was brought back from the Middle East by authorities in an operation carried out by the Counter Intelligence Wing through its Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell (OFTEC).Kamal Kaur, whose real name was Kanchan Kumari, was found dead on June 11, 2025, inside a car in the parking area of Adesh Hospital in Bathinda. The post-mortem report confirmed that the 25-year-old influencer was strangled to death. The car was registered in Ludhiana that had been parked at the medical university for several hours.Police investigations revealed that Mehron, along with his associates Jaspreet Singh, Nimratjit Singh, and Ranjit Singh, was involved in the murder. The three co-accused had already been arrested earlier. After committing the crime, Mehron fled to Dubai, where he remained in hiding for a prolonged period. On February 7, a Bathinda court declared him a proclaimed offender, following which a Red Corner Notice was issued against him through Interpol. She was known for posting reels, some of which had drawn criticism for being explicit. The Ludhiana-based influencer had reportedly received threats related to her content and was at the centre of multiple online controversies.She lived with her mother, two brothers, and two sisters.
