Suri: Kajal Sheikh on Thursday resigned as Birbhum zilla parishad sabhadhipati after failing to secure a majority in the 52-seat body, which currently comprises 50 active TMC members and one Congress member. All Birbhum Trinamool factions are aligned with the Ritabrata Banerjee camp.The move followed a no-confidence motion brought by 19 TMC members.Sheikh, TMC MLA from Hansan, submitted his resignation to Burdwan divisional commissioner a day before a scheduled no-confidence vote. The commissioner accepted the resignation.
