PUNE: Residents of Lodha Belmondo township in Pune took out a candlelight march demanding justice for realtor Ketan Agarwal, whose death at Lohagad Fort earlier this month has turned into one of Maharashtra’s most closely watched murder investigations.Videos from the march showed men, women and children walking through the residential complex holding candles and placards reading “Justice for Ketan.”Several participants also raised slogans, expressing solidarity with Agarwal’s family and calling for strict action against those accused in the case.During the candle march, a member of Ketan Agarwal’s family questioned why Siya Goyal did not refuse the marriage if she was unwilling to go ahead with it.“When Siya Goyal’s entire family came regarding the wedding, they were told everything about Ketan; nothing was hidden from them. If she had any issues, why didn’t she say so? She spent so much time with him, going out, dining together, doing everything so why didn’t she raise any objections then? Our only question is: if she didn’t like our son, why didn’t she just say ‘no’ on the very first day? We simply want justice for our child and our family; that is all we expect from the government,” the family member said. The march comes days after Pune Police alleged that Ketan was murdered by his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, during a trek to Lohagad Fort on June 18.What was initially reported as an accidental fall was later treated as a case of murder after investigators claimed the two had conspired over several months to kill him.According to the police investigation, Siya and Chetan were allegedly in a relationship before her engagement to Ketan.Investigators have claimed the two remained in frequent contact, exchanged thousands of phone calls and made multiple unsuccessful attempts to kill Ketan before the alleged murder at Lohagad Fort. The probe has since widened, with police questioning Siya’s parents and brother to ascertain what they knew about her relationship with Chetan and the circumstances in which her marriage with Ketan was arranged.Investigators have also examined digital evidence, including call records and deleted chats, while both accused have reportedly given conflicting versions during interrogation. The candle march reflects growing public attention on the case, which has sparked widespread discussion following a series of revelations by investigators.Police said the investigation is continuing and further evidence is being collected to establish the complete sequence of events leading to Ketan Agarwal’s death.
