Jhansi: In a move aimed at strengthening the city’s innovation ecosystem, district magistrate Gaurang Rathi on Saturday launched the Jhansi Open Lab for Technology (JOLT), an open innovation platform designed to connect startups and innovators with real-world challenges faced by government departments, industries, educational institutions and citizens.The platform was unveiled during the “Tea Talk with DM” programme organised at the Rise Incubation Centre, operated under Jhansi Smart City Limited. Municipal commissioner and chief executive officer of Jhansi Smart City Limited Akanksha Rana and Rise Incubation Centre director Amit Singh were also present on the occasion.Addressing startup founders and entrepreneurs, Rathi emphasised the growing role of innovation and technology in solving local problems.

He said startups can play a crucial role in developing scalable and socially impactful solutions, and stressed the need for continuous collaboration between the administration and the entrepreneurial community.Under the JOLT platform, stakeholders will be able to post problem statements, while startups and innovators can propose practical solutions. Selected proposals may be considered for paid proof-of-concept (PoC) projects and potential implementation, creating opportunities for startups to test and scale their innovations.A live demonstration of the JOLT portal was also conducted, showcasing the process of submitting challenges, evaluating solutions and facilitating collaboration between problem owners and innovators.During the event, the officials highlighted the achievements of the Rise Incubation Centre and shared details of the Rise Accelerator Maverick Programme (RAMP), which provides mentorship, business guidance, investor access and growth support to emerging startups.
