Ranchi: JMM on Saturday wrote to the state’s chief electoral officer (CEO) seeking detailed clarifications and safeguards ahead of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and sought a written response within 15 days.JMM general secretary Vinod Pandey, in his letter, flagged concerns over possible wrongful deletions during the SIR exercise and demanded that a written standard operating procedure (SOP) be issued before booth level officers (BLOs) begin field verification and house-to-house surveys. The party raised objections to the classification of ‘electors not mapped’ in the GIS-based system, cautioning that such voters should not be treated as ineligible. Citing Bihar’s 2023 exercise, it stated, “Nearly 28,000 voters had to be restored after being wrongly deleted.”JMM sought assurance that the “unmapped” status alone would not trigger deletions and asked for clear norms on the number and timing of physical verification visits.Highlighting Jharkhand’s difficult terrain and linguistic diversity, particularly in Santhal Pargana and Kolhan regions, the party also sought special training for BLOs and deployment of Santhali-speaking personnel in scheduled areas.JMM further demanded clarity on verification of voters added through Form-6 and sought district-wise data to enable independent checks.
