Hazaribag: A senior functionary of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) resigned from the party on Monday after he was not backed by the outfit as a mayoral candidate for the Hazaribag Municipal Corporation.Sarfaraz Ahmed, who gave up the party’s primary membership, was the district president of JMM’s minority wing. He was regarded a veteran worker of the party in the district. JMM sources said he quit the outfit after JMM backed another mayoral candidate, Vikas Rana.
Eight candidates are the in fray for mayoral post.Notably, civic polls aren’t on party lines even though political outfits. A day after his move, Sarfraz on Tuesday made it clear that he would continue to fight polls for the post of mayor.
