Jaipur: The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has adopted three Information, Education and Communication (IEC) posters designed by Class 12 student Saarakshi Singh (16), for use in municipal campaigns, public events and sanitation outreach activities across the city.The posters were developed under Gulabi Rakshak, a civic awareness initiative launched by Saarakshi to promote public engagement through creative communication and youth-led advocacy. They focus on cleanliness, sanitation awareness, civic responsibility and waste management.“Meaningful civic change is driven not only by policy and infrastructure, but also by social awareness, youth leadership and active public engagement,” Saarakshi said.She also leads the Sanitation Workers’ Protection Initiative (SWPI), under which she organised a public crowdfunding campaign on the FuelADream platform in partnership with FINISH Society to procure personal protective equipment (PPE) for sanitation workers in Jaipur.The campaign surpassed its target of Rs 1 lakh, raising Rs 1.05 lakh, which was used to distribute over 300 PPE kits containing gloves, face masks, reflective safety jackets, safety boots and other protective gear.Saarakshi managed the campaign independently, overseeing fundraising, donor outreach, volunteer mobilisation and distribution. She also filed a Right to Information (RTI) application seeking details on the working conditions, safety measures and welfare provisions for sanitation workers.Through the Plog4Jaipur initiative, she has organised plogging and cleanliness drives with students and volunteers across public spaces and govt schools to spread awareness about plastic pollution, waste segregation, responsible waste disposal and environmental sustainability.
