Srinagar, Aug 08: J&K Tourism received the Best Adventure Tourism Destination award at the Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) Ahmedabad, highlighting the Union Territory’s growing appeal among adventure and experiential travellers.
J&K Tourism participated in the three day fair, which brought together travel trade representatives, tourism stakeholders, hospitality companies and visitors from across India and abroad. The recognition at the event marked another milestone in the Union Territory’s efforts to promote itself as a leading destination for adventure tourism.
During the fair, the J&K Tourism delegation presented the Union Territory as a destination offering experiences beyond conventional sightseeing. It highlighted the region’s snow capped mountains, lakes and diverse landscapes along with its rich culture, traditions, cuisine, hospitality and local way of life.
The delegation invited travellers from Gujarat and other parts of the country to explore a wide range of adventure activities available across J&K. These included trekking, rafting, skiing, mountaineering and paragliding.
Special focus was also placed on experiential tourism, with the delegation showcasing homestays, village tourism, heritage experiences and cultural journeys. Officials highlighted these offerings as important opportunities for younger travellers seeking adventure combined with authentic local experiences.
J&K Tourism also promoted community based tourism and the role of homestays in supporting local communities. Such initiatives can provide additional livelihood opportunities for residents while giving visitors direct exposure to local culture, traditions and hospitality.
The TTF Ahmedabad provided the J&K Tourism delegation an opportunity to interact with travel operators, tour companies and other industry stakeholders from Gujarat. Discussions focused on destination promotion, tourism packages and strengthening partnerships to attract more visitors to the Union Territory.
The participation also showcased J&K’s potential across multiple tourism segments, including adventure, cultural, heritage, rural and community based tourism. Tourism officials stressed the importance of expanding visitor experiences and connecting travellers with lesser known destinations.
The award and participation at TTF Ahmedabad are expected to further strengthen J&K’s position in India’s competitive tourism market and encourage wider promotion of its adventure and community based tourism offerings.
