Srinagar, Jul 29: The Government of Jammu & Kashmir, through J&K Tourism, and the DP World Professional Golf Tour of India (DP World PGTI) on Wednesday announced the fifth edition of the J&K Open, which will be held at Royal Springs Golf Course in Srinagar from August 4 to 7.
The tournament, carrying a record prize purse of Rs 1 crore, will mark the beginning of the second half of the DP World PGTI’s 2026 season. The prize purse has been doubled from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore, underlining the growing stature of the tournament on India’s professional golf circuit.
The event is supported by J&K Tourism as title partner, with Royal Springs Golf Course serving as the host venue. DP World, Axis Bank, Amul, Amrutanjan Enerlyte, Campa, Air India Maharaja Club and Kalyani are among the key partners supporting the championship.
The tournament will feature some of India’s leading golfers, including 2026 Order of Merit leader Saptak Talwar, Veer Ahlawat, Om Prakash Chouhan, Manu Gandas, defending champion Shaurya Bhattacharya and Angad Cheema. Fourteen international players from nine countries, including the United States, Japan, Canada, the Czech Republic and Malaysia, will also participate, giving the event a strong global presence.
Deputy Director Tourism Kashmir, Rashid Raina, said the government is proud to support the championship at one of India’s finest golf venues. He said the event strengthens Jammu & Kashmir’s reputation as a leading golf tourism destination while promoting tourism growth, economic development and world class sporting events in the region.
DP World PGTI Chief Executive Officer Amandeep Johl said the J&K Open has become one of the most eagerly awaited tournaments on the tour calendar.
He thanked Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the Government of Jammu & Kashmir and J&K Tourism for their support. He said the Robert Trent Jones II designed Royal Springs Golf Course provides an outstanding championship venue admired for its playing conditions and scenic surroundings.
J&K Tourism is using the tournament to promote golf tourism across the Union Territory, which is home to renowned golf courses at Royal Springs, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Jammu Tawi.
The Royal Springs Golf Course, located along the Dal Lake with the Zabarwan mountains in the backdrop, is regarded as one of Asia’s most picturesque golf courses and is expected to attract players and visitors from across the country and abroad. agencies.
