Srinagar, Oct 8 : The Jammu and Kashmir Government has notified the J&K City Gas Distribution (CGD) Policy, 2026, aimed at expanding access to cleaner fuel and modernising the Union Territory’s energy infrastructure.
The Office of the Chief Minister, in a post on X, said the policy was notified following its approval by the Council of Ministers and provides an “investor-friendly and time-bound framework” for expanding Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) across households, commercial establishments, industries and the transport sector.

The policy is also aimed at attracting green investments and creating opportunities for employment, apprenticeships and skill development across the Union Territory.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah congratulated Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Satish Sharma and the concerned department on the notification of the policy, describing it as a significant step towards cleaner growth and sustainable development in J&K.
