Jharsuguda district collector Kunal Motiram Chavan on Wednesday paid a surprise visit to the Govt Upper Primary School in Lakhanpur to review academic standards and implementation of the mid-day meal scheme. Accompanied by Lakhanpur BDO Binay Patel, the collector interacted with students and teachers, inspected the campus and asked the block education officer (BEO) and staff to ensure cleanliness, hygiene and regular maintenance.During the visit, Chavan sat with students and ate the mid-day meal to assess its quality. He expressed dissatisfaction over aspects of the preparation and pulled up teachers responsible for implementing the scheme.He directed the school authorities to improve the cooking process immediately and ensure meals meet prescribed nutrition and hygiene norms, warning that no compromise would be tolerated. The collector also asked the BEO to closely monitor the scheme through regular inspections to prevent lapses.
