Ranchi: The weather office on Monday issued an orange alert (be prepared) for thunderstorm, hail, and gusty wind for 13 districts and yellow alert (watch) for the remaining districts of the state from Tuesday to Wednesday.The 13 districts are Koderma, Hazaribag, Giridih, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Gumla, Khunti, Simdega, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Saraikela-Kharsawan.It further issued an orange alert for hailstorm, thunderstorm, and gusty wind for 17 districts from Wednesday to Thursday.Earlier, the MeT office had issued an orange alert for hailstorm, thunderstorm, and wind for 10 districts from Monday to Tuesday.Abhishek Anand, the deputy director of Ranchi MeT office, said, “The thunderstorms, hailstorms, and gusty wind will happen due to strong western disturbances. Because of strong western disturbances, low pressure cyclonic circulation develops in the Mediterranean and moves towards the east through Iran, Afghanistan, and India.”“As the circulation moves across India through Rajasthan, it collects moisture from the Arabian Sea. The system collects moisture from the Bay of Bengal, while moving eastwards towards Jharkhand after reaching Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Hence, the plains receive rain, hailstorms accompanied with thunderstorms, while the hilly areas receive snowfall,” Anand said, adding that The impact will reduce gradually after Thursday and temperatures would rise.Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms occurred at a few places over the state in the past 24 hours. The highest rainfall of 27mm was recorded at Garu (Latehar).Daltonganj recorded 37.2°C, the highest maximum temperature in the state, while Latehar recorded 16°C, the lowest minimum temperature. The state capital recorded 32.7°C.
