Because of strong western disturbances, low pressure cyclonic circulation develops in the Mediterranean and moves towards the east through Iran, Afghanistan, and India.”“As the circulation moves across India through Rajasthan, it collects moisture from the Arabian Sea. The system collects moisture from the Bay of Bengal, while moving eastwards towards Jharkhand after reaching Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Hence, the plains receive rain, hailstorms accompanied with thunderstorms, while the hilly areas receive snowfall,” Anand said, adding that The impact will reduce gradually after Thursday and temperatures would rise.Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms occurred at a few places over the state in the past 24 hours. The highest rainfall of 27mm was recorded at Garu (Latehar).Daltonganj recorded 37.2°C, the highest maximum temperature in the state, while Latehar recorded 16°C, the lowest minimum temperature.
