Ranchi: Jharkhand high court on Wednesday directed state govt to provide pension benefits, along with other emoluments, to teachers who were earlier appointed as para teachers, within eight weeks.The bench of Justice Deepak Roshan gave the direction while hearing a petition filed by Manik Chandra Mandal, Utpal Mukherjee and Abdul Hamid Ansari, who claimed pension benefits and retirement dues from the govt after their superannuation as intermediate-trained teachers.The trio were earlier appointed as para teachers on contractual service. Later, the petitioners were appointed as intermediate-trained teachers. The petitioners said that they continued as teachers for about a decade, after which they superannuated.The petitioners said they worked for about 8-12 years as para teachers on contractual service. They claimed their service period as para teachers to be computed along with the period of service as trained teachers for calculating their pension benefits. The govt denied pension benefits, after which they moved the HC.
