Ranchi: Micro-lift irrigation projects under the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) will be expanded from 10 to 50 blocks next year, as the state govt looks to scale up women-led livelihood initiatives. The decision comes amid reports that irrigation support significantly improved horticulture output and raised the incomes of several self-help group (SHG) members. The governing body met in Ranchi under the chairpersonship of rural development minister Deepika Pandey Singh. In another key move, SHG women will be linked more directly to govt supply chains. Products such as sanitary napkins, school bags and notebooks, mid-day meal materials, milk and vegetables are expected to be sourced from women’s groups to create stable income opportunities.
