Ramgarh: Chief minister Hemant Soren on Thursday said he has urged the Centre to evacuate the people from Jharkhand, who are stranded in various Gulf countries, amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia.Soren, who visited his native Nemra village to celebrate the traditional Santhali festival Baha Parab, said Jharkhand govt cannot act on the issue as it is under the ambit of the Ministry of External Affairs.
“We have requested the Union govt to take steps for the safe return of people from Jharkhand stranded in Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia, as several people from various states, including Jharkhand, were stranded there,” the CM said.“I came to my ancestral village, Nemra, to observe the traditional Baha Parab dedicated to nature and Marang Buru,” he said, and congratulated tribals, Hindus and Muslims on the occasion. The Ramgarh district administration made heavy security deployments in and around Nemra for the CM’s visit.
